N.V. Nomine Renard Brut
Appellation: Champagne
Vintage: N.V.
The Nomine family produces their Champagnes from 20 hectares near Sezanne with Chardonnay representing 40% of the vineyard. This gives a light, elegant style of very fine Champagne as befits one of the founder members of the prestigious Champagne Club of Vignerons. Quality is very important here; they use a traditional old vertical press and age their wines in bottle longer than most. The bubbles are small and the champagne has a fine mousse. A very fine dry Champagne produced and bottled by the Nomine family on their small estate in the village of Villevenard. The wine benefits from four years ageing in bottle. Very bready, also with toasted hazelnuts. Rounded fruit, fresher in the mouth than the nose suggests, lovely balance, an individual style. Good delicate biscuit aromas, with a fine mousse and great length.
